In accordance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) revised Lead and Copper Rule (LCRR), Paducah Water (PW) has conducted an initial inventory of our service lines in our system. Every service line in PW’s system has been placed into one of four categories based on the information that is available as of the compliance date of October 16, 2024. These four categories include:
*Many service lines are categorized as “Unknown” in PW’s system. It is important to note that this is because the portion of service line owned by the customer (from the meter to the building or structure) is regulated by the Kentucky Plumbing Code and not under PW’s ownership or maintenance responsibility. As a result, PW has had no involvement in the installation of customer-owned service lines and have no records regarding materials of construction. Also, if any portion of a service line is unknown, the entire service line (from the water main to the building or structure) must be categorized as “Unknown”.
