LEAD AWARENESS

For more than 130 years, Paducah Water has safeguarded the health and well-being of the people of Paducah, McCracken County and our surrounding area by providing high-quality drinking water.

An essential part of our everyday efforts to provide you with the highest quality water is our Lead Program.  Under the program, Paducah Water employees monitor and analyze the drinking water throughout our entire system – from our treatment plant to your tap – to minimize your exposure to lead and protect your health.

You may have heard about the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s recent changes to its Lead and Copper Rule that include a series of regulations designed to control the amount of lead in your drinking water.  These revisions are intended to improve public protection from the risks of lead exposure by better protecting children at schools and childcare facilities, getting the lead out of our nation’s drinking water, and empowering communities through information.

Paducah Water welcomes the work to come under the new Rule because of how we successfully implement our Lead Program; we have an excellent history of compliance with test results far below the EPA’s regulatory action level.

We understand EPA’s new regulations may create added interest in our efforts, so we’ve created this web section to provide you with more information about our program and detail the strategies we are using to maintain excellent water quality.  This section will be updated as we move forward with our work under the new Lead and Copper Rule.
