What is a BOIL WATER ADVISORY?

Whenever water lines are shut off, there is a possibility of contamination. To ensure the ongoing quality of your drinking water, PW will flush water lines in the affected area and test water samples to confirm the water is safe for consumption. Until test results are confirmed, a Boil Water Advisory is issued.

What should I do if my area is under a Boil Water Advisory?

As a precautionary measure, boil all water used for drinking or food preparation. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for three minutes. PW will notify you when it is safe to return to normal practices as soon as test results are verified. You will be notified by phone OR a blue door tag will be placed on the front door of your residence. The BWA yard sign will be removed by PW personnel when the advisory is lifted. If your neighborhood is ever under a Boil Water Advisory, please know PW is working as quickly as possible to re-establish normal service, while upholding our commitment to protect our customers.
